Community Guidelines

1Respect
Treat every athlete, coach, official, administrator, and fan with respect. Varsity Engine is a professional space built around student-athletes and their accomplishments; keep interactions constructive and appropriate for a community that includes minors. Disagreements about games, rankings, or calls are welcome when expressed civilly, but personal attacks, profanity directed at others, and inflammatory content are not. Remember that what you post is tied to your verified identity and may be seen by coaches, college programs, schools, and families.
2Bullying
Bullying, demeaning, ridiculing, or targeting other users, including student-athletes, is prohibited. This includes coordinated pile-ons, mocking a competitor's performance, body-shaming, and content intended to humiliate or intimidate. Encouraging others to harass a person, resurfacing old content to shame someone, or creating content designed to provoke a targeted response are all forms of bullying. Because our community includes minors, we enforce this standard strictly and may act on a first violation.
3Harassment
Harassment, intimidation, threats, stalking, sexual harassment, doxxing, or unwanted contact of any kind will not be tolerated and may be reported to schools, associations, or law enforcement where appropriate. Do not repeatedly contact a user who has asked you to stop, threaten violence or harm, or use the Platform to track or surveil another person. Do not publish or threaten to publish another person's private information, such as home address, phone number, class schedule, or location, and do not organize or encourage others to harass a target. Any sexual advance, comment, request for images, or content directed at a minor is strictly prohibited and will be escalated immediately to the appropriate authorities, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children where required. We may remove content, restrict messaging, and suspend or ban accounts for harassment, and we may act on a first offense when the conduct is severe or targets a minor. Threats of violence to a school, event, or person are reported to law enforcement. If content on the Platform shows you or your child and you want it removed, you do not need to prove harassment and you do not need to own the footage: use the Privacy and likeness removal process in the Copyright and Content Removal Policy. If someone has published an intimate image, or an image altered to look like someone, report it through the in-Platform report tool or to [email protected]; those reports are acted on within 48 hours.
4Discrimination and hate
Do not post content or engage in conduct that attacks, demeans, or promotes hatred or violence against people based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, immigration status, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic. This includes slurs, hateful symbols or imagery, dehumanizing comparisons, denial of protected-group tragedies, and content that celebrates, endorses, or calls for discrimination or violence. It also includes coded or indirect expressions of hate and content that targets a person's protected characteristics under the guise of a joke or sports rivalry. Such content will be removed and may result in immediate and permanent account termination, and credible threats or content that may constitute a hate crime may be referred to law enforcement. Because our community includes minors and represents schools and associations, we enforce this standard strictly and without exception.
5Impersonation
Do not impersonate another person, athlete, coach, school, association, or the Company, or misrepresent your identity, affiliation, or authority. Coach, athletic director, and school accounts are verified for this reason. Creating fake or parody accounts of real people, using another athlete's name or likeness, or claiming to represent a school or program you are not authorized to speak for undermines the trust the Platform is built on and will result in removal.
6Authentic information
Do not submit false scores, statistics, rosters, or recruiting information, or manipulate rankings and standings. The integrity of official data is essential to the community. Only enter results and stats you are authorized to report and that accurately reflect what happened, correct errors promptly, and never inflate, fabricate, or misattribute performance. Attempts to game the match engine or standings through false data may result in loss of verification and account action.
7Spam
Do not post spam, scams, phishing, chain messages, repetitive unsolicited messages, or off-topic promotional content, and do not use bots or automated tools to collect data or contact users. Do not use the Platform to advertise unrelated products or services, run unauthorized fundraising, or drive users to external sites for deceptive purposes. Recruiting and team communications should be genuine and relevant to the people you contact.
8Safety and minors
Protect the privacy and safety of minors above all. Do not solicit personal contact information from a minor, arrange private off-Platform contact with a minor, or share another person's private information without permission. Do not create, upload, or share media that has been generated or altered to depict a real person, including any athlete, saying or doing something they did not say or do, and disclose any material alteration to media you post. Adults must keep all communication with a minor appropriate and on-Platform. Report any interaction that makes a young person unsafe immediately.
9Illegal activity
Do not use the Platform for gambling or wagering on youth sports, solicitation, sale of prohibited or age-restricted goods, distribution of sexually explicit, exploitative, or graphically violent content, drug or weapon promotion, human trafficking, or any other unlawful purpose. Do not organize, promote, or facilitate betting on high school competitions, or share content intended to influence the integrity of a game. Content that depicts, sexualizes, or facilitates the exploitation or abuse of a minor is prohibited without exception and is reported to law enforcement and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children as required by law, and such content is preserved for those authorities. Do not use the Platform to distribute malware, phish for credentials, or gain unauthorized access to accounts or data. You are responsible for complying with all federal, state, and local laws that apply to your use of the Platform, and violations may result in immediate removal, account termination, and referral to the appropriate authorities.
10Reporting
Use the in-Platform reporting tools to flag content or behavior that violates these guidelines. Reports are reviewed by the Company, and good-faith reporting helps keep the community safe; when appropriate, we act quickly to remove content or restrict accounts. Provide accurate detail so we can assess a report fairly. Do not abuse reporting tools to retaliate against, silence, or target others, as misuse of the reporting system is itself a violation.
The Platform is not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger, contact 911 or local authorities first. For other concerns, use the channel that fits: report child-safety concerns and any content that sexualizes or endangers a minor, and nonconsensual intimate imagery, through the in-Platform report tool or [email protected], which are monitored for prompt action; report a privacy or likeness concern about media that shows you or your child through the Privacy and likeness removal process in the Copyright and Content Removal Policy; report a copyright concern to the copyright agent named in that Policy; and report ordinary conduct issues through the in-Platform reporting tools. We escalate credible safety concerns to guardians, schools, and law enforcement where required by law or reasonably appropriate.
11Enforcement
Varsity Engine may remove content, issue warnings, limit or suspend features, revoke verification, and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these guidelines, with or without notice depending on the severity and history of the conduct. We may take interim action, such as hiding content while a report is reviewed, and repeat or severe violations may result in permanent removal. Serious violations may be escalated to a user's school, athletic association, or the appropriate authorities, and certain conduct may be reported to law enforcement. Enforcement decisions are made at the Company's discretion; if you believe an action was taken in error, you may contact us to request review. We generally apply the following framework, and may depart from it where conduct is severe or where the safety of a minor is involved. This framework describes what generally happens; it does not limit the Company's discretion to act as safety requires. A first violation generally results in removal of the content and a written warning explaining what happened, with no further penalty; the warning expires after 90 days. A second violation within 90 days generally results in removal and a seven-day suspension of upload and messaging privileges. A third violation within 90 days generally results in removal, a 30-day suspension of upload and messaging privileges, and a pause on recruiting visibility. A fourth violation within 90 days makes the account subject to termination. Some conduct bypasses this ladder and may result in immediate termination without a warning and without a graduated step, including sexual content involving a minor, exploitation of or predatory contact with a minor, credible threats or incitement of violence, severe hate or discriminatory threats, nonconsensual intimate imagery, and impersonation of a coach, guardian, or school official. Except where notice is prohibited by law, would compromise an investigation or the safety of a user, or the action follows a single case of severe abuse, we will tell you what was removed and why. You may appeal by contacting [email protected]; we aim to acknowledge an appeal within a reasonable period and to decide it promptly, an emergency restriction may remain in place while we review, and where an appeal is granted the content is restored and the associated warning or restriction is removed.
